A report from 2017 Tom Simpson Award, Joe Law.
Hi Chris and Dave
I thought I would drop you a note to say many thanks for the support that you gave to me through the Tom Simpson memorial fund in 2018
The award enabled me to pay for travel and race entries throughout the 2018 season along with purchasing some equipment for the year ahead.
I’ve been happy with my progress as a first year junior it’s been a tough, challenging year but I’ve learnt a lot and have highlighted areas of weaknesses that I am now able to work on with my coach.
Prologues have been my weakest area and caused me to drop a good 20 places on GC in the tour events. Everything else I am totally happy with at this point in my career, endurance, bike handling skill, raceknowledge and bunch skills, most of which has been learnt on the Donny gangs and the memorial ride over the past 4 years.
For the winter 2018/19 I have already started to race cyclocross in the Yorkshire Points series and also the Vive Le Cross nocturne series, I podiumed in the first two events. I will also be competing inall of the National Trophy Cyclocross series this winter.
My 2019 road season will be based around the junior national road series but I also intend to race In Europe to gain experience for my move up to U23 in 2020. I’m looking into the possibility of a 4 week development camp in June – July 2019 based in Oudenaarde.
Anyway I best get on with some training and let you guys carry on with your work.
But again many thanks for all your support.
Joe
